Open Enrollment
Open Enrollment is November 1 to November 30
The LGHIP's Open Enrollment period runs from November 1 through November 30.

During Open Enrollment, eligible members can:
- Enroll in health and voluntary coverages
- Add dependent and/or family coverage
- Drop dependent and/or family coverage
During Open Enrollment, participating units can:
- Change their effective date of insurance for new hires
- Units may choose coverage starting on date of hire or the first day of the second month.*
- *If a unit has a probationary period that affects health benefits, certain restrictions apply.
- Units may choose coverage starting on date of hire or the first day of the second month.*
- Change Probationary Period
- Probationary periods that impact effective date of coverage can be either 30, 60 or 90 days**
- **Certain restrictions apply for units that cover employees first day of the second month.
- Probationary periods that impact effective date of coverage can be either 30, 60 or 90 days**
- Add or drop retiree coverage
- Units may choose to offer coverage for their eligible retirees, or stop offering coverage for eligible retirees.
- Add or drop coverage for elected officials
- Units may choose to offer coverage for their elected officials, or cease offering coverage for elected officials. Applies to cities, towns and counties.
- Add or drop dental coverage
- Units may elect BCBS Dental coverage with the LGHIP, or may drop and offer coverage through another program outside of the LGHIP.
